CPU How to eject a CD-ROM from a stuck Macintosh?

1 Place the Mac Mini on a flat, clean surface. Ensure the unit is plugged in to a power source and that a keyboard, mouse and monitor are connected.

2 Power up the Mac Mini. When the unit has booted up, listen for the CD or DVD attempting to spin up. If you hear the disc spinning, but using the Media Eject key in the upper right corner of your keyboard does not eject the disc, drag the disc's icon from the desktop to the Trash icon on the Dock, until the Trash icon turns into an Eject symbol. Release the mouse button to eject the disc.

3 Contact Apple, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or go in to an Apple Retail store to make an appointment to have the drive analyzed and repaired or simply replaced if the disc still does not eject.

LAW How to avoid being harassed by a debt collector or bill collector?

1. Deal with your creditors before you are referred to a collection agency. Call the creditor to explain your situation. Make sure that you actually owe the money,. Do not make promises that you can’t keep, such as making a payment on a certain date, when you know you will not be able to make the payment.

2. Send a letter via certified mail. Keep a copy of it.

3. Contact a Lawyer.

If your letter doesn’t stop the harassment, a letter from a lawyer should. The lawyer may be able to raise legal claims for violations of the federal law that prohibits debt collection harassment. Federal law states that collection agencies cannot contact consumers represented by lawyers. This does not apply to creditors collecting their own debts, but creditors usually abide by the law as well.

4. Negotiate with the creditor.

Its better to negotiate with a creditor before the debt is sent to a collection agency, but you may be able to work with the collection agency.

5. Raise Complaints About Billing Errors

If the collection letter contains an error, write to the company and request a correction. Consumers have the right to dispute a debt. Collection agencies must tell you the steps to take to dispute the date during the first contact or within five days of the first contact. If the consumer disputes the debt in writing within 30 days, the collection agency must stop collection efforts while it investigates the debt.

If the debt involves a line of credit, a credit card, or an electronic transfer of money, you have the additional legal right to require the creditor to investigate the bill.

LAW Can I file bankruptcy again?

If you previously received a Chapter 7 discharge (which erased your debts, rather than restructuring them), you will have to wait 8 years before you can receive another Chapter 7 discharge. If your second filing will be for Chapter 13 protection (which reorganizes your debts), the waiting period is 4 years.

If your previous bankruptcy was a Chapter 13, you’ll have to wait 2 years before receiving another Chapter 13 discharge. If you’re seeking a Chapter 7 discharge, 6 years must have passed since your Chapter 13 filing.

When determining if you’re eligible, keep in mind that these time periods are measured from filing date to filing date, not from discharge date to filing date.

Also, there are exceptions to all of these time requirements.

BIZ Why do auto insurance companies charge different prices for the same policy?

Auto insurance companies do not all have the same rates, Each automobile insurance company has a model of what the safest driver and an individual's profile is compared to this model to provide a risk assessment score. This score is used to determine the specific risks presented by that policy holder relative to the rest of the drivers insured by that company. Each insurance company decides the weight that is given to each risk factor, and one company may give more weight to certain factors than another insurance company. That is why is makes sense to compare auto insurance quotes when shopping for auto insurance.

There are many different factors used by car insurance companies to determine risks and rates. One factor is age of the driver, especially for those under twenty five years and over sixty year old. Most auto insurance companies consider the risks higher for accidents, injuries, and claims for these drivers. Where one lives also determines the vehicle insurance rates that are paid. Those living in high crime rates generally pay more. Another factor that is considered to determine rates for car insurance is the type of car. The make and model of the vehicle is factored into the car insurance risk assessment, and if a car is new or high priced, or even a car that is stolen or broken into frequently, some insurance companies classify the vehicle insurance policy high risk, which translates into higher insurance rates.

Many auto insurance companies operate on a tier system, and the number of tiers involved will vary by the individual car insurance company. There can be as few as two tier or as many as fourteen or fifteen tiers, but the most common number of tiers is three. Many different things can be involved in the tier you are placed, and the more tiers a company has the better your car insurance rates may be. If you go without auto insurance coverage for thirty days or more, six points on your driving record within three years because of violations, two or more claims filed, or any alcohol or drug related driving offenses. If any of these things occur you may be moved into a lower tier, which means you will pay more for your vehicle insurance.

Your car insurance premiums may be affected by your credit score, and this factor can be given differing weight by different vehicle insurance companies. The best way to save on your auto insurance policy is to keep your credit score high, don't get any tickets or moving violations, and avoid accidents to keep your auto insurance costs down. These tips plus comparing online car insurance quotes will help you find cheap auto insurance that fits your coverage needs.

BIZ Can auto insurance companies charge higher insurance rates to those car owners living in high crimes areas?

Unfortunately, when you purchase auto insurance you are participating in a shared risk pool and auto insurance companies have to charge a premium that covers the claims they estimate will be paid out on the insurance coverage they write. If the auto insurer has more policy holders in high crime areas, statistically they will have to pay more insurance claims for stolen and damaged vehicles. Accordingly, the insurance premiums they collect must be higher. Some states limit the degree to which auto insurers can use zip codes as a major determinant of auto insurance rates. California, for instance, amended it's rules on auto insurance in 2005. The new rules prohibit insurance companies from using ZIP codes as the main determining factor for deciding auto insurance rates.

While an attorney is prohibited from speaking with a counter-party who has retained an attorney without the attorney present, you are under no such legal prohibition. Whether or not it makes sense for you to speak with your former employee directly or whether you might be assuming risks by speaking with them directly is dependent on the strength of any claim she may have against you and your ability not to say anything that could strength any such claim.

In some states the owner cannot be held liable for more than the policy but the driver can.

In others, as one of the owners of the car, you are liable for the damages that result from the car's operation.

Generally, the injured parties will divide the money available from your policy and release you from liability. Your auto insurance company will hire an attorney to protect its interests if the car accident case goes to trial. If you are uncertain that you interest are being protected ask your auto insurance company about cumis counsel, an attorney that is paid by the insurance company.

BIZ Can landlord evict me for paying a small portion of my rent late?

While the landlord has grounds for bringing an eviction action in court for non-payment of rent, as long as your payments are up to date by the following month or at least before the case is scheduled for a hearing in court, the landlord would be very unlikely to win an eviction. Should your landlord start an eviction action and should you not pay the rent in full before the court hearing, In most jurisdictions the court would give you a chance to 'cure' (bring your rent current) without being evicted. Your best course of action is to let the landlord know you will make up the shortfall with next month's rent and to remain current on your rent going forward.

Depends whether you have signed a Purchase Agreement for the property and the details of the Purchase Agreement. The terms should indicate at what point title is transferred from seller to yourself (the buyer). If the sale was at the outset of the agreement period the seller likely has a first lien on the property. If you are truly paying rent until enough rent accrues to satisfy purchase price, title will not transfer until that point is reached.
